Love hurts

Sometimes life throws you unexpected little surprises (shocks) that you can’t really seem to wrap your head around. I, for that matter love the constantness of life . Time and again  these challenges make you ponder on all the little decisions that you have taken till date and wonder if you done things a little differently would you be In a better position today

Love hurts. Period. If it didn’t, then maybe you aren’t loving enough. What breaks the love you share with someone?

  • Trust – you can’t really believe what your love says to you anymore
  • Betrayal – we heard that saying “once a liar, always a liar”
  • Distance – not only measurement of kilometres but distance of a heart to heart connection
  • Ego – there are no sides winning in an argument but love losing overall
  • Stupidity- yes I would definitely out this one here for all the reasons that I can’t mention

Love is something beautiful that you have to nurture and grow. You can’t blindly believe that it will last forever, for who knows when that that deadline for forever is

English, how I miss thee!

Being a person born in the 80s I have had the privilege to learn and spell in English, the ‘proper’ way. Kids nowadays face an amazing challenge of learning the ‘chat’ spellings or I might add the ‘cool’ way of writing vs the real spellings. Can you try reading this?

I wanna go 2 da moviz 2day cn i gt a ryd?

During my schooling days, my mom would sit with me and make me spell out aloud. Any mistake would be rewarded with a pat on my hand with a ruler. As you can see, spelling mistakes were taken as a criminal offence in my house hold.

A few words that blew my mind as I read through online forums as stated below:

  • Ur – your
  • 2day – Today
  • 2mr – Tomorrow
  • Srsly – seriously
  • Wat – what
  • Omg – Oh My God
  • App – Application
  • b/w – between
  • bf – boy friend
  • bff – best friends forever
  • btw – by the way
  • cya – see you
  • dl – download
  • fwd – forward
  • idk – I don’t know
  • lol – laugh out loud
  • TTYL – Talk to you later
  • w/e – whatever
  • YOLO – You only live once
  • sick – crazy, cool, insane

And the list goes on. I had to actually google some words at times to find out what they actually mean. I cant imagine my mom reading a paragraph like this :

I wz abt 2 giv u a ryd bt den my mom cald. Fyi I ctn as im omw 2 da mkt daz open 24/7 afaik. Ill brb.

Technology has made our life so much easier and faster. Shorter spellings means lesser time spent typing but what is the future of this? I guess very soon we will have a slang dictionary so that our parents can ‘catch up’ wid us! LMAO! J/K! TC CYA!

Friendships and more

Once a friend, always a friend. Really?

There are many types of friends that you will come across in your life.

1. The ‘forever one’ – the one who is always there in all phases of your life. Doesn’t matter if you change your GPS or facebook relationship status! This friend will stick by you through all

2. The ‘hang out friend’ – this one is always available to spend countless weekends with you, have a good time and then meet up again the next week. You dont have much emotional connection with this person but you know you can always count on them to have a good time

3. The ‘college remembrance friend’ – you keep bumping into this friends at odd places and odd times and the only thing this person says to you is ‘Man, remember those times in college when we bunked class’ or ‘Remember those times in college when we stayed up all night to study for our math test’ #bother

4. The ‘successful friend’ – this one was the un-nerdy one in your college group but today has the maximum monthly income! After all those years of studying, you feel it was utter waste and you should have just followed him to the foodcourt during all classes.

5. The ‘My Problems never get over friend’ – come on! you’re telling me that you just broke up, your works killing you, you have no time to sleep and you haven’t eaten in 5 hours! Wow! #GetALife

6. The ‘Foodie Friend’ – Conversations begin and end with food and your increase in weight throughout the years as been proof of this. However sweet times spent with this friend make them lovable #CaloriesOverdose

7. The ‘Nerdy Friend’ with a smart sense of humour that you dont seem to understand.

8. The ‘Compassionate friend’ – the one you can call and cry your heart out to and who will not judge you for wiping your nose while you cry! Even if you dont speak to this friend for months, you can start talking like nothing has changed!

9. The ‘3 am friend’ – the friend you can count on for being there if needed at 3 am! There are many friends who will be there with you in your good times but few who will stand by you in your bad times

Friends are always there – for laughter, fun, tears, success, failures. They are the ones who make your life complete with their mere presence. Imagine a life with just work, empty lunch breaks, lonely movies and sad parties! Friends not only give you joy and motivate you to be a better person, but only make you a part of their lives forming a bond that will forever remain in your heart no matter where you are.

Why I married a Foodie…

I wouldn’t call myself a foodie. I was a ‘starver’ always watching my weight during college. My love for food was nurtured by my granny’s mouth watering spicy Goan prawn pickle and fish curry. My parents are good chefs and can whip up a beautiful buffet on special occasions. I, however do not have that special inherited talent and succumb to Google and Pinterest for easy-to-do recipes.

My husband doesnt cook at all..sigh..well maybe he can fry an egg. I’m hoping he will surprise me one day with his extra ordinary hidden culinary skills! His world revolves around good food. The joys of eating a hot Hyderabadi dum biryani with cool raita and tons of onions of onions and lime pickles still makes my mouth water, all thanks to him.

Well there are certain advantages of marrying a foodie:

  • You get to eat anytime, anywhere
  • Your spouse doesn’t bother that you are putting on the pounds just like him
  • Chocolate is a hero in your house, gets a thunderous welcome
  • You are always invited to lavish dinners with second helpings a must
  • His parents feed you the same quantity as him, maybe even more considering that you weigh heavier than him
  • You suddenly find more food pictures to instagram!
  • You check in to all the cool food joints in the city
  • You become an overnight food blogger/reviewer (ahem!)
  • Your weekend plans include ‘Which restaurant do we visit next?’
  • You end up buying all the possible discounted food vouchers so that you can at least get 1 meal for free
  • Your fridge will never be empty

It’s been a crazy sweet delightful journey with him. We have travelled to Thailand, India, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Portugal, Spain, UAE and hopefully more! *wink*

Food is our first love and will continue to be. Until we discover that the scale cannot determine our weight anymore!
